The sequel to our hydrology student’s search for his family, ended happily a few weeks ago.

Abe travelled to Gondar and found the village which used to have the big old boab tree, that he remembered as a 4yo. Abe made inquiries around the village and his mother appeared. She recognized him instantly and cried in disbelief. They were so overcome with emotion they could not eat for 3 days. Abe was relieved and overjoyed to nd he also had 2 sisters, and a nephew.

Abe’s mother and stepfather are very unwell and he will do what he can to help them. A DRE volunteer described it as “a bloody miracle”.
